Spoiler Alert!, do I think video marketing is a powerful tool? Definitely.
So why don’t more people do it?
Here are some of the biggest excuses I hear:
“I don’t have the time.”
“I don’t know how.”
“I don’t have the right equipment.”
“I’m not good on camera.”
“I’m too old to be making videos.”
If I waited for half of my clients to be ready for video marketing, I would die waiting. So what if you’re not as skilled, charming and handsome as I am on camera?
(I’m a bald, middle-aged French guy with a pot belly and an accent that looks so much like Fester Adams it’s just too easy to dress up like him every Halloween.)
Trust me; if I can pull it off and do videos, you can too. You know you can. Get over it. I mean, it’s just a mental hurdle people have to jump over. However, don’t worry about it.
In my experience, you always look worse in your head than you do on the screen, and the benefits of video marketing are too big to ignore:
- Increased visibility
- Increase credibility
- More leads (which means more revenue)
- Plus, it can be a fun challenge.
So, here’s the first step of the 1 step strategy: Get started. Allow yourself to suck for a while. It’s okay. It’s like a sport; you can’t expect to be the best player the first time you step on the field. You gotta keep trying with it.
Here’s a little cherry for you. It’s my first video ever which I made four years ago. Look at this beauty. I did with a little Logitech cam and everything. It was awful.
But I just pushed myself forward. One video at a time. I’ve learned a lot over the last four years, which is why I’m able to now share my lessons with you.
Maybe you can learn from my mistakes, so you don’t have to make the crappy first videos like I did.
